As I worked with Derek Prince as his personal asssistant before he went
home to be with the Lord, I learned many important lessons. My favorite was the respect and love he demonstrated for God's
Word. I was amazed at how he proclaimed the promises of God everyday. Here are a few of his favorite scriptures that
he often reminded the Lord concerning Israel:
Jeremiah 31:10b
He who scattered Israel is gathering him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps is flock. (emphasis Derek's)
Psalm 129:5-6 (KJV)
Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion. Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withers
before it grows up.
1 Sam. 12:22
For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make Israel His
people.
Psalm 17:7-9
Show Your marvelous loving kindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up
against them. Keep Israel as the apple of Your eye; hide them under the shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress
them, from their deadly enemies who surround them.
Psalm 33:8-12
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke and it was done.
He commanded, and it stood fast. The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples
of no effect. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose
God is the LORD, and the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.
Psalm 55:9a
Destroy O LORD, and divide their tongues!
Psalm 125:3a (NIV)
The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous...
Psalm 124
"If it had not been the LORD who was onour side," Let Israel now say - "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,
when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; then the waters
would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have swept over our soul, then the swollen waters would have swept over our soul."
Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 25:22 (NIV)
Redeem Israel, O God, from all their troubles!
Chief Rabbi Sends Letter of Encouragement to Soldiers
Israeli Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Amar
In an open letter to the IDF soldiers and to the residents of the North, Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo
Amar called to strengthen faith in God, repent from sin and do good deeds.
Amar opened his letter with verses from Deuteronomy:
"Listen Israel, you draw near today to do battle against your enemies; let not your hearts faint; fear not
and do not tremble nor be terrifed because of them; for the Lord your God is He that goes with you to fight for you against
your enemies to save you."
"The Jewish people hopes for peace and pursues peace, and calls to our enemies to make peace. But when our
enemies respond with fire and columns of smoke, and come on horse and chariot [against us], we invoke the name of the LORD
our God, and stand strong and heroic, fearless and steadfast, because not in our swords do we put our trust but in the name
of the LORD we rise up and stand emboldened, and GOD provides redemption.
"All members of Israel, wherever they may be, are obligated to gather and to stand up for themselves, to
remove all inquities and sins from among us, whether sins against our neighbor or sins against GOD; we will search them out
and return to the LORD our GOD, especially in this difficult time, as it is written [Deuteronomy]: 'When you go out to encamp
against your enemies, keep yourself from every evil thing...For the LORD your GOD walks in the midst of your camp to deliver
you and to give up your enemies before you; therefore shall your camp be holy that He sees no unclean thing in you and turn
away from you.'
"Let us strengthen our faith [in GOD] so as to give life to our souls, and let us put our trust in the LORD,
[the] GOD of Israel's battles, and He will overcome our enemies. God's redemption is as quick as the blink of an eye."
"'I will make
you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with
you to rescue and save you,' declares the Lord. 'I will save you from the hands of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp
of the cruel.'"
